It is the vine par excellence of the Rodanne and Australia ( where it is also known as Hermitage ), though its palce of origin is not a hundred percent certain, though there are records showing it to be an ancient type. The grapes are ovoid and small with a very agreeable taste. Its wines posseess a characteristic aroma of violets and very ripe dark fruits, together with a high concentration of tannins and colouring substances. Currently, in Jumilla it is seen as a grape with a great deal of expectation.
